It’s a good thing that I finally tried my first Kouign-amann so late in our trip. Because had I tried them on, say, day 1 it would have been game over.
There’d have been no time for stunning Cathedrals, experiencing canoeing the Dordogne, petting random French cats (le maow, mes amis), eating other beautiful foods (duck confit is a gift of the Gods, #fact) – or anything else.
I’d be covered in crumbs sitting on a Parisian curb, weighing in at an hefty 1700kgs and unable to move from eating all the Kouign-amann I could get my hands on.
Think sweetened croissant, with beautiful buttery layers.
Thank you to my pen pal friend, Katrina, who I met at d’Orsay during my last trip to Paris. She casually mentioned them, like no big deal.
Meanwhile, I’ve come to realise that my life can be divided into 2 parts- pre and post Kouign-amann.
Life is much better post, let me tell you. Katrina, I am forever indebted. 🙌
