We’re Marla and Stephanie, two friends separated by a 12 hour drive but not much else. We love food. We also love to travel. While most travel to see the sights and take in experiences, we travel for the sole purpose of stuffing ourselves silly and collecting delicious edibles to cram into our suitcases to bring home. While we joke that we’ll need to book extra seats for our return flights home, one day this will likely become reality.
I dream of selling off my belongings, heading to the airport and getting on the first plane going anywhere. Anywhere in Europe, that is. I’m fascinated with its steep history, the architecture and – of course – the food. While that’s not going to happen anytime soon, I’m happy to save my loonies (dollar coins for you non-Canadians) and visit for a week or 2 at a time. On my wish list is Iceland, Scotland and Slovenia. And one day I hope to quit my real life and live in bella Italia.
I love to travel, if I had my way I would live in a constant state of vacation. Over the years I have been to many places covering North America, South America, Australia, Asia and now for the first time Europe. And the best parts and strongest memories are of fantastic architecture and even more fantastic, the food. I hope to one day see all the continents but am more than happy to just see more of the world.
Fernweh Friday is a place for us to share weekly memories of places we’ve visited. Scattered amongst our Friday snapshots will be more in-depth posts about some of our favourite travel finds. Join us as we take trips down memory lane, and try the recipes that our travels inspire us to prepare.
